FOREIGN TOURISTS INFLOW TO INDONESIA INCREASED BY 5.94% IN 2012



The National Board of Statistics (BPS) announced that the number of foreign tourists to Indonesia in November 2012 came to 63,867 people or increasing by 5.94% compared to the number of tourists of the previous year amounting to 654.9 thousand people. Similarly compared to October 2012 the number of foreign tourist to Indonesia in November inched up by 0.80%.

The number of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia trough 19 main entry gates in November 2012 also posted increase of 6.10% compared to November 2011, i.e. from 613,557 pax to 650,971 pax. Compared to visit trough October 2012, the number of foreign tourists coming through 19 entry gate was posting increase of 0.25%. Meanwhile the number of tourist coming through Ngurah Rai airport Bali in November 2012 posted increase of 7.96% compared to arrivals of the some new month of 2011, i.e. from 220,341 pax to become 237,874 pax. Compared to the condition in October 2012, the number of tourist coming through Ngurah Rai airport Bali was showing downturn of 5.87%.

Accumulatively, through January - November 2012 the number of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia was posted at 7,277,496 people, increasing by 5.09% compared to the number in the same period of 2011. The increases of incoming tourists happened in some main entry gate, with the highest percentage of increase happening in Hussein Sastranegara airport Bandung 24.96% followed by Adisucipto airport Yogyakarta 17.45% and Sepinggan airport Balikpapan 8.31%; while 7 other entry gates posted downturn, the highest at the Lombok international airport (BIL) Matarram 10.66% and lowest downturn in Tanjung Priok Harbor Jakarta 0.16%.

Increase of foreign tourists entry in November 2012 against November 2011 were posted in some main entry gates. The highest percentage of increase was posted in Adi Sucipto airport Yogyakarta 36.01%, followed by Hussein Sastranegara airport Bandung, 33.5%, Lombok International Airport, Mataram 27.56%. on the other hand there was downturn in foreign tourists inflow in 7 entry gates with biggest downturn happening in Adi Sumarmo airport Surakarta, Tanjung Pinang harbor Jakarta 14.44%-meanwhile the least downturn was in Tanjung Uban harbor, Riau 1.66%.

Compared to the visit in October 2012, the number of foreign tourists coming to Indonesia by November 2012 showed increase of 0.80%. The increase was in some entry gates with highest percentage posted in Hussein Satranegara airport, Bandung post at 102.20%, followed by the entry gate Etikong, Pontianak 65.83%. Meanwhile the lowest increase was in Soekarno Hatta airport Jakarta 0.12%.

Of the 693 foreign tourists coming to Indonesia in November 2012, their nationalities were: Singapore 16.67%, Australians 10.58%, China 8.06% and Japan 5.6%.
