INDONESIAN AND BRAZILIAN PARLIAMENTS TO SIGN MoU

The parliaments of Brazil and RI would soon sign MoU to foster inter-parliamentary and inter-Governmental collaboration. This was disclosed by Chairman of House Marzuki Alie after receiving the Brazilian Ambassador for Indonesia, Paulo Alberto Dasilvera Suares at the House of Representatives on Thursday [23/5].

For that matter, delegates of the Parliaments of Brazil planned to visit Indonesia on August 14 – 19 next. Besides signing of the MoU, the delegates of the Brazilian Parliament would attend the official speech of the President of RI on August 16, 2013 at the House of Representatives. They were also confirming agenda of the next visit of the Brazilian delegation which was already prepared by House.

According to Marzuki, Brazil was one of the countries where economic growth was stable and above average. During global crisis, Brazil was among the top five nations in terms of economic growth. Brazil was among the BRIC [Brazil, Russia, India and China] group while Indonesia was included in the G-20 Group, 20 countries of high growth where Indonesia ranked 16th.

At the international forum, very frequently Brazil had support by many countries to chair important posts. In the UN, Brazil was entrusted to manage food affairs. Admittedly Indonesia lost in getting votes, because Brazil had wide support. Now with good relationship, there would be benefits to be expected. Perhaps by the time Indonesia was recommended to hold certain position in the UN, Brazil would vote for Indonesia. (SS)
