Commodity
prices in January 2013, in general, recorded an increase. Based on result of
survey of the National Burau of Statistics
(BPS) in 66 cities, inflation occurs at a rote of 1.03 percent or there is
increase of Consumer Price Index (IHK) from 135.49
in December 2012 to 136.88 in January 2013. Inflation rate by calendar year
(January) 2013 is at 1.03 percent and inflation rate year-on-year (January
2013 against December 2012) at 4.57 percent.
Inflation
occurs as a result of price increases as shown by increase of indices of
several expenditure groups, namely foodstuff
group 3.39 percent; ready-to-eat food, beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco group
0.46 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas,
and fuel group 0,56 percent, clothing group 0.25 percent; health group 0.29
percent; and education, recreations, and sports group
0.05 percent. While, transportation, communications, and financial services
index drops 0.28 percent.
Commodities
which experience price increase in January 2013 are, among other things:
purebred chicken meat, fresh fish,
red chili pepper, purebred chicken eggs, shallots, fee of non-supervisor
construction worker, rice, garlic, preserved fish, spinach, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, cayenne pepper, filter clove cigarettes, tariff of house rent,
beet, string beans, apples, oranges, banana,
watermelon, tomatoes, ketupat (packed ricel)/lontong sayur (packed rice in
coconut milk soup with shredded tempe, tofu, and
chili), rice and side dishes, clove cigarettes, white cigarettes, tariff of
house contract, housemaid’s salary, and gold jewelry. While, commodities which experience price decrease are air
transport tariff.
In
January 2013, commodity groups which give contribution to inflation are:
foodstuff group 0.82 percent; ready-to-eat food,
beverages, cigarettes, and tobacco group 0.08 percent; housing, water,
electricity, gas, and fuel group 0.13 percent; clothing group 0.02 percent; health group 0.01 percent; and
education, recreations, and sports group 0.01 percent. While, transportation, communications, and financial services group contributes
0.04 percent to deflation.
In January 2013,
foodstuff group experiences inflation at 3.39
percent or increase of index from 161.44 in December 2012 to 166.91 in January 2013.
From 11
sub-groups under the foodstuff group, all of them experience inflation. Sub-groups
experiencing the highest inflation are condiment sub-group
at 12.68 percent, and the lowest inflation is experienced by fats and oils
sub-group at 0.02 percent.
This
group, in January 2013, contributes 0.82 percent to inflation. Commodities
which dominantly contribute to inflation are,
among other things: purebred chicken meat 0.14 percent; fresh fish 0.12
percent: red chili pepper 0.11 percent; purebred chicken eggs and shallots 0.07 percent,
respectively; rice 0.06 percent; garlic 0.04 percent; preserved fish, spinach,
potatoes, cherry tomatoes, and cayenne pepper
0.02 percent, respectively; beef, string beans, apples, oranges, banana,
watermelon, and tomatoes 0.01 percent,
respectively.
Inflation
in January 2013 is at 1.03 percent with Consumer Price Index (IHK) at 136.88.
From 66 cities of IHK, 52 cities experience
inflation and 4 cities deflation. The highest inflation occurs in Sibolga at
3.78 percent with IHK at 145.96, and the lowest occurs in Pontianak at 0.01
percent with IHK at 146.32.
While, the highest deflation occurs in Sorong at 0.98 percent with IHK at 152.00 and the lowest occurs in Ternate at 0.20
percent with IHK at 136.59.
