First delivery of Liquified
Natural Gas (LNG) cargo bought by PT PLN arrived in the Blang Lancang Harbor,
Aceh Darussalam today. This cargo from West Papua was delivery by LNG tanker
Tangguh Towuti and would be used for commissioning of the new Arun
regasification facilities.
Head of SKK Migas Amin Sunaryadi stated: “This measure is
a sound effort to fulfill domestic need. We are committed to increase gas supply
for the domestic need which grows by 9% per year. In 2013 the need for domestic
consumption was higher than that for export. In 2015 domestic consumption came
to 4,403 BBTUD or 61% while the exported volume was 2,836 BBTUD.”
According to Amin this cargo delivery was part of the
company’s commitment to fulfill the domestic market. Tangguh LNG was scheduled to
send 9 LNG cargo was part of Arun trial operations as LNG regasification
terminal.”
BP Asia Pasific Regional President Christina Verchere
said: “This delivery was Tangguh’s important achievement in supplying gas to
the domestic market to meet the ever growing need in Indonesia, Tangguh’s
counterparts were proud to participate in the project”
Tangguh ship LNG Towuti would anchor at Arun terminal for
10 days to support the regasification process before operations.
President of PT Arun Gas Teuku Teuku Khaidir as operator
stated “We are waiting for this premiere LNG delivery. It shows that we are
ready for full operation and supply gas needed by Indonesia. With the capacity
of 405 MMSCFD PLN was expected to make use of gas to the maximum for industrial
estates in North Sumatra and Aceh.
“Additional supply of gas to fuel powerhouses means
increase of gas supply to North Sumatra which significantly increase PLN’s
efficiency whereby to reduce use of oil fuel for operating powerhouses in
Belawan.” President of PLN Sofyan Basir was quoted as saying.
Ever since the first cargo delivery in July 2009, Tanguh
LNG had shipped more than 500 cargo to the consumers in Indonesia, Asia and
America. Tangguh LNG had their commitment to safe, sound and efficient
