Head of the Coordinating
Board of investment (BKPM) Franky Sibarani stated that development of
Industrial states was expected to give sound impact on economic development of
the local communities. Such could be realized by developing the concept of
integrated industrial zones which was not only connected with harbors,
powerhouses, railway logistics, water treatment centers etc but also with the
networking center of small industry suppliers. Such was disclosed by Franky
when making technical visit to the Integrated Industrial Center of Wilmar
Serang, Banten, on Friday (7/8).
An industrial zone concept as such could be model for
developing other industrial zones. Other points noteworthy was connectivity
with distribution networking centers to keep marketing mechanism run well.
Franky expressed his appreciation for Wilmar Industrial
Center which now had arrived at construction stage of the harbor and preparation
for connecting Wilmar Industrial Center with the surrounding small industry
around Serang, Banten. The Wilmar Industrial Center had its strategic role in
enhancing efficiency of production and logistics whereby to strengthen national
manufacturing products competitiveness at the export market.
This integrated industrial center could be a commercial
hub because its location was close to Serang, Merak and Jakarta.
Franky remarked further that the Government was promoting
investment development of industrial estates and industrial exclusive zone
(KEK). Today the Government was finalizing regulations for incentives giving
for KEK, Freeport Zone and Free Trade Zone (KPBPB), industrial Estates, Bonded
Warehouse, and Export Destination Industry (KITE). The incentives complemented
other fiscals prepared by the Government like tax holiday and tax allowance.
The Government had planned development of new industrial
centers. BKPM was also prioritizing investment development in industrial
estates and exclusive zones in all marketing promotions at home and abroad. In
RPJM Masterplan 2015 – 2019 the Government planned to build 14 industrial
estates in 5 years. Meanwhile for KEK exclusive zones the Government planned to
build 17 new KEK, 10 of which was KEK for tourism. (SS)
