Deputy Chairman of House Pramono Anung rated that Pertamina had the
capability to manage big oil resource Block like the Mahakam Block. He was
optimistic Pertamina could be the operator of big blocks. Admittedly once there
was block run by Pertamina which slumped in production output, but now it was
expected such would not happen again.
Previously Member of Commission VI of House Dewi Aryani proposed that
the Block Mahakam East Kalimantan be jointly managed by PT Pertamina [ Persero
} and Total EP Indonesia. This joint management would last for 5-10years run by
joint operation first before continued by Pertamina. During transition time
there would be transfer fo technology and management from Total to Indonesia so
the state owned company would have much input from Total.
Member of Commission VII of House said he was sure PT Pertamina would be
able to manage the Mahakam Block in East Kalimantan although today the Mahakam
Block was still run by Total E&P from France and Inpex from Japan.
They were optimistic Pertamina would be able to manage although in the
technical execution it was still necessary to be engaged with foreign partners
with high command of technology. Whatever the amount of shares in possession,
the important thing was that the Mahakam Block could be managed with out
reducing the production output.(SS)
