Road map for the
development of information and communication technology (ICT)-based industry
has targeted the independence of hardware and content production. Since 2011 until
the end of 2015, manufacturing industry and ICT hardware component industry
were accelerated, which industries support the development of ICT
infrastructure, including the development of the animation industry, content
and applications industry for the domestic market and the development of
products that support wireless communication.
“Until now there are seven business
that have established industries in the country and three business are also
preparing the establishment of their industries,” said Industry Minister, Saleh
Husin, in Indonesia Green Infrastructure Summit in Jakarta, Tuesday (June 9).
The development is expected to
support the growth of the national ICT industry. Ministry of Industry has set
Quick Wins program that launched the establishment of ICT-based industry
centers in Java Bali, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.
“The development of these industry
centers are recommended to use green technology or low carbon technology,” he
said. the concept of green industry is that it prioritizes efficiency in the
production process with the following characteristics: use of materials,
energy, and water with low intensity; use alternative energy; waste
minimization and fulfillment of environmental quality standard; use of
low-carbon technologies and component human resources. The implementation of
green industry through the use of low carbon technologies will impact energy,
water and raw materials saving. It will also increase productivity and generate
less waste,” he said.
The acceleration of this strategic
industry is because Indonesia argues that its imports are still much higher
than exports. Therefore, the Ministry of Industry encouraged ICT, software and
multimedia content industry. “One of the efforts is by requiring importers to
establish industries in the country within a maximum period of three years,” he
said. In the next phase, 2016 – 2020, the target is that the manufacturing
industry and domestic ICT component industry should be able to meet the
domestic market and the development of the role of the content and applications
industry domestically and regionally.
And, from 2021 until 2025,
animation, content and applications industries are encouraged in order to have
high competitiveness in the global market and manufacturing industry and
national ICT component industry have been able to compete in the export market.
Green Infrastructure
In the automotive industry in 2015,
the national industry is focused on the development of multi-purpose vehicle
(MPV), trucks with a capacity of up to 24 tons, sport utility vehicle and small
sedans which are environmentally friendly and fuel efficient. All of these are
supported by domestic machinery and component industry. Minster of Industry,
Slaeh Husin, emphasizes green investment in the fields of transportation and
ICT, which is needed to support the establishment of green infrastructure in
Indonesia. It requires the support and cooperation of various parties.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla, who
opened the event, stated that the need for investment is quite high, it is
necessary to develop green infrastructure. “So, there is a need for investment
cooperation and partnership with financial institutions,” he said while urging
to prioritize infrastructure investment, “he described.
Meanwhile, managing Director of the
World Bank Group, Sri Mulyani Indahwati, confirmed that growth should be
inclusive and environmentally friendly in a sustainable manner. Referring to
the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM),in 2010-2014, total Foreign Investment
(PMA) which is included in the “green” business group reached USD 26.81 billion
and domestic investment (PMDN) IDR 139 trillion. (E)
