Chairman of the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association (APKI) : SINAR MAS POSSESS 100% SHARES OF SUMALINDO HUTANI JAYA

Sinar Mas Group through PT Tjiwi Kimia commanded over 100% shares of PT Sumalindo Hutani Jaya after buying 40% shares of that company. Previously PT Tjiwi Kimia already possessed 60% shares of PT Sumalindo Hutani jaya, so with the recent purchase total possession of PT Tjiwi Kimia became 100%. PT Tjiwi Kimia bought 40% shares of Sumarlindo from PT Inhutani worth Rp 14.75 billion.

Ir H.M. Mansur, Head of the Presidium of the Indonesian Pulp and Paper Association (APKI) told Business News that apart from buying domestic companies, recently Asia Pulp & Paper Sinar Mas (APKI) through their subsidiary company Paper Excellence in Holland had bought subsidiary company of Power flute, namely Papierfabrik Scheufelen in Lenningen, Germany. The Sceufelen produced Coated Woodfree papers (CWF) with the capacity of 300,000 tons/year. Sceufelen produced high quality CWF with distribution network throughout Europe.

Furthermore Paper Excellence Canada, subsidiary company of Sinar Mas/APP also bought the Pictou pulp factory in Nova Scotia Canada and Northern Pulp. Pictou factory produced long fibre pulp at the capacity of 270,000 tons/year. The pulp produced by the factory were sold to the Asian market, or to paper & billboard producers owned by APP in China and Indonesia.

Buying of this factory was one of the series of purchases of pulp factories in North America, France, and Germany whose products were sold to Asia’s market. Previously Sinar Mas APP bought pulp factory belonging to Domtar at Prince Albert, Saskatchewan (Canada) which be converted into dissolving pulp.
