GREEN INDUSTRY TECHNOLOGY TO BE PART OF INDUSTRIAL BILL

Green Industry Technology which was now developing in the modern world, would be part of the agenda to be discussed in the formulation of industrial al Bill in Parliament. Previously Green Technology was not accommodated in Law no. 5/1984 on industry. Now in the winds of change the Industrial Bill must accommodate advancements in the industrial world. This was disclosed by member of Commission VI of House Azam Azman N at the Parliament session.

Furthermore Azman said regulation of green industry had become trend in many countries and was being implemented by many regulations. This was necessary so the application of low carbon could be fulfilled in accordance with national and international standard. Furthermore complexity in Industry was numerous an nearly all problems were pressing issues to be included In the Law.

All the demand to pass the new Industrial Law came not only from the House but also from the Government. To support the proposition, Commission VI of House had asked for input from all parties related to industry.

In addition to that the issue of energy application in industry was a discussion of less urgency. Our industry was still extravagant in using energy. Therefore the energy problem was a specific part in the discussion of industrial Bill. If the energy problem was already included in the Bill, hopefully our industry would have stronger competitive edge in the international market.

In the future it was necessary to scheme up a comprehensive industrial masterplan. In other words, where was our industry headed for — and how to manage it well in accordance with the strategic plan of the Ministry of industry. For comparison, in Bangkok it was clearly visible how the automotive industry was developing rapidly because they had comprehensive and up to date regulations on automotive. Indonesia must not be less strategic more over to think that automotive component industry was on the widespread.

Commission VI of House invited associations of automotive and heavy equipment industry whereby to drum up more input from domestic industrial circles ac the Industrial Bill being dissected could be more comprehensive. There were three associations being invited, namely the Indonesian Automotive Industry Union (GAIKINDO), the Indonesian Textile Association (API) and the Indonesian Heavy industry industry Association (HINABI).

Chairman of Commission VI of House Airlangga Hartarto said that this Bill would soon influential to the national as well as international automotive industry in Indonesia. The rule of the game in terms of outsourcing must be must be aligned because it was a matter of productivity of the industry.

Meanwhile member Ulf Commission VI of House Ida Ria highlighted the need for energy for industry at home. The industry in Indonesia is the greatest absorber of energy, so energy availability must be thoroughly considered for the survival of the industry itself.

API, GAIKINDO of HIMABI asked that

Industry’s interest be accommodated in the Industrial Bill. API was expecting the Bill would not increase burden for the domestic industry. GAIKIND proposed them should be strengthening of competitive edge, i.e. by prioritizing development of a raw material storage center, processing center and marketing center. In addition to that, energy supply far the domestic industry in the form of electricity and gas must be well secured.
