CHINA’S INDUSTRY EXPECTED TO RELOCATE BUSINESS TO INDONESIA


           It was expected that industries in China which had been contributive to investment development and propelled infra-structure development in Indonesia would eventually relocate their business investment to Indonesia. This was set forth by the Director General of technology-based Premium Industry of the Ministry of Industry Budi Darmadi as Representative of the Ministry of Industry during opening session of INDO ICON 212 International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Vehicles, Building Machinery and Mining Machinery in Jakarta on Thursday (17/5).

            The expo was conducted by the China Construction and Machinery Association (CCMA) and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Machinery Sub Council (CCPIT) MSC in collaboration with PT Peraga Nusantara Jaya Sakti or Peraga Expo. The expo was conducted for 4 days from 17 to 20 May 2012 in Jakarta.

            According to Wang Shoubo as Division Director China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) sub council Machinery as long as bilateral trade relations with China reached USD 43 billion of which one third was estimated as heavy equipment materials among other equipments for building raw materials.

            In return Indonesia exported to China natural gas, wood, nickel, minery products like iron ore and copper. Data of BPS processed by the Ministry of Trade of RI had it some commodities which posted significant increase to China were among others manggosteen (174.6 %), cacao powder (116.5%) footwear (309.8%) and home lighting equipments which increased ten thousand times. Other fruits from Indonesia were among others papaya and salak which was within the framework of ASEAN-China Free Trade (ACFTA) so they were free of import tax to china, Shoubo was quoted as saying.

            “China is highly in need of coal supply from Indonesia, even today China’s consumption of coal are imported from Indonesia. By 2025 Indonesia’s production output of coal would reach 405 million tons, of which more than 2/3 would be used for export. On the other hand, Indonesia with a population of 235 million need support to carry out development, especially infra structure, and for that matter China is willing to be engaged in partnership with Indonesia with the aim to make Indonesia a potential market in construction equipment as well as minery” Shoubo remarked.

            While facilitating growth opportunity for business and technology in machinery industry, construction and building materials in Indonesia, construction and building materials in Indonesia, INDO ICON 2012 would expose building materials, roof structuring, building foundation materials, interior materials and building materials technology.

            Supported by the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Public Works, Association of Indonesian National Construction Undertaker (DAPENSI) and KADIN Indonesia, ICON 2012 and BIMEX 2012 occupied an area of 10.000 sq M participated by 120 companies of 7 countries like Belgium, China, Indonesia, Germany, Swiss, Singapore and Thailand.

            This expo was targeted to be visited by 10,000 stakeholders in infra structure business consisting of contractors, building equipment traders, suppliers, researchers and academicians, architects, government officials, building construction experts, agencies and distributors, and association of developers. On the first day of the event : May 17, 2012 a business forum would be held under the theme of “Investment and Business Collaboration Opportunities in engineering and construction, minery, and building material technology in Indonesia.
