Minister: challenges to maintain 6% inflation in 2008 serious

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani opined that challenges to maintain a 6% inflation rate in 2008 were quite serious on account of similar causes which had to do with the prices of these basic commodities, fuel oil and natural disasters. "In 2008, it means that the challenges are so serious for us because of the same pressures," she said in response to the journalists' questions after handing over the budget realization list (DIPA) at the state palace. Therefore, she added, the three factors deserved serious attention in a bid to prevent further inflation pressure especially in natural disaster-prone regions in addition to food prices-related unrest.
