Government appoints Pertamina as subsidized fuel supplier in 2008
The government has officially appointed state oil and gas company Pertamina as the only subsidized fuel oil supplier and distributor in the country in 2008. Chief of the Oil and Gas Downstream Regulatory Body (BPH Migas) Tubagus Haryono handed over the letter of appointment to Pertamina President Director Ari Sumarno Thursday (Dec 27, 2007)) in the presence of Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro. The appointment followed a meeting of the nine-member BPH Migas committee on Wednesday, Tubagus said. Under Presidential Regulation No.2005/71 on supply and distribution of certain types of fuel oil, the government can appoint a subsidized fuel oil supplier either through a tender or direct appointment.
