PERTAMINA DECIDED WINNER OF TENDER FOR EPC REVITALIZA OF ARUN LNG REFINERY


PT Rakayasa Industry won the tender on operation contractor for Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of revitalization project of Arun LNG refinery to become Receiving and Regasification LNG Terminal.

Pertamina’s Vice President Corporate Communication, Ali Mundakir, said that EPC tender on the project has been held since April 2012 and attended by five companies. After passing through several stages, PT Rekayasa Industri was chosen as the best candidate for operator of the EPC project.

“We have decided PT Rekayasa Industry as the tender winner with the best offer last week. PT Rekayasa Industry has also committed to complete the work in time and with good quality”, Ali told Business News (11/7).

Arun LNG Refinery Revitalization Project becomes a Receiving and Regasification LNG Terminal planned to have a total capacity of 400 MMscfd. The gas supply is expected to be utilized by fertilizer industry, electric fuel, and industries in Aceh and North Sumatera. So far, the project has not receives final assurances of gas supply contractually.

Supply plan at 140 MMscfd for the State Electricity Company (PLN) from Tangguh LNG project which is planned to be supplied through Arun Receiving and Regasification LNG Terminal is still on the stage of discussion regarding price at government level. Pertamina has also stated its interest in buying local LNG for the need of the project to Tangguh LNG producer, Oil and Gas Regulator (BPMigas), and the government.

The Arun LNG refinery revitalization project is expected to revive industry activities in Aceh, to maintain sustainability of Pupuk Iskandar Muda, and to maintain sustainability of electricity supply in the province in the western part of Indonesia. In additional to that, the piping project to connect Arun and Belaswan and gas supply for Arun receiving and regasification terminal will increase sustainability of energy supply and raw materials for industries in North Sumatera.

Ali said that Pertamina could not yet sign the project operation contract with PT Rekayasa Industry because it still depends on assurance of gas allocation. Pertamina highly supports government’s attempt to perform finalization of gas supply assurance to strategic projects for the sake of national energy sustainability.

Pertamina also head Annual Pertamina Quality (APQ) Awards for creation of innovation and new business opportunity. All of these will have a concrete impact on growth of Pertamina as a quick-yield energy company.

President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), Karen Agustiawan, said that to realize the vision as a World Class Energy Company, Pertamina’s management and operational workers should give the highest contribution in order to continually perform innovation, creation, and to create improvements in order to realize effectiveness of process and quality of work output that will stimulate the company.

“APQ Awards must be made as an intermediate target that must be achieved to create the main target which is bigger and to achieve satisfactory achievement in international forums. Moreover, this event must become a media for the creation of innovation and new business opportunity that have a concrete and positive effect on the company in a short time”, Karen told Business News (11/7).

APQ Awards 2012 with the theme “Making Pertamina Quality People Who Are Able to Compete at International Level with Sustainable Improvement Culture and Renewable Spirit” involving Pertamina’s people from all of the company’s operation/production centre. There are 95 reports on the best lessons learned, problem solving, and trouble shooting from 1,241 innovation/creativity themes generated in 2012.

From all the innovations, there are 12 winners selected from all existing categories. “Specifically, I will also congratulate winners of APQ Awards 2012. Our hope is that the best achievement reached should not stop right now. APQ Awards which is a media to socialize and increase sustainable improvement culture must be able to accelerate productivity, business efficiency, and high performance achievements.”

Minister of State Enterprises, Dahlan Iskan, in his welcome speech, expressed his pride about the achievement of Pertamina quality people, especially in the APQ Awards 2012. He took an example of the innovation created by Gugus Kendali Camar Refinery Unit V Balikpapan with the theme “Development of LSWR-500 Product To Become New Product” which generate a concrete and significant result for the company.

“I am very surprised and proud as the innovation could generate contribution in the form of profit at around Rp 1.3 trillion a year. This is an extraordinary innovation and worth to be continually developed not only in one business unit, but in all existing business units of Pertamina.”
